just hanging out with all my friends who are here for summer
What made you start surfing and when?
some kids I went to school with invited me to surf with them when i was about 13 and i was hooked right away
When did you realize that you wanted to take your surfing to the next level?
probably when I was about 15 and started doing well in the local contests. I saw that if i progressed I would get the chance to surf more and surf better waves
Do you remember winning your first contest?
I don't really remember it that much...I remember that it was the beginners contest though so I didn't feel like it counted. I remember the 1st contest that I won my division in ESA was when I was 15 in the Malibu's contest. I was just stoked to get some prizes!
Over the course of your surfing career, what are a some of your personal highlights?
for me the best highlights are just the memories of great waves and the people I've met from traveling as far as contests or media or whatever, the best thing I've put out is my part in a surf video called Patience. It was my first video part and I felt like I put a lot of work into it and I was just stoked when it finally happened.
Who are some of your role models or surfing influences?
my favorite surfers to watch are Andy Irons and Dane Reynolds...I don't feel like I'm following another persons path though so I cant really claim a role model. I think there is good in a lot of people, role models are everywhere
Favorite surf travel destination?
New Zealand

Best surfing session?
I got to surf a good left in Hawaii with 2 of my friends, Mick Fanning, Bede Durbage, Joel Parkinson and Andy irons. It was really cool to trade waves with those guys, they put on a show and were class acts in the water. I was just tripping because i was surfing with the guys I always watch on video and stuff and they were destroying waves right in front of me.
Worst wipe out?
last fall I fell on a wave, broke my board, and my wetsuit got blown out, it was a really cold swim in!
A lot of people say you can’t get good at surfing in our area, what are your thoughts about surfing Delmarva?
We get waves, just not that often. especially June and July.
Winter surfing in OC? the cold is brutal but its usually not crowded and sometimes the waves get really good
What are your favorite surfing maneuvers?
big backside airs
Are you working on any new tricks?
oh yea I'm always trying new stuff, right now I'm trying flips and stuff but really I want to get some different grabs documented, it doesn't count if I don't have proof!
Any other hobbies?
skateboarding
How do you stay balanced and grounded?
I gotta girl that does that for me
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
I'm still trying to decide where exactly i want to go. i want to finish the east coast contests and then move somewhere in October where i can get some better waves
What is some advice for the young surfers out there?
just enjoy surfing and all the relationships and opportunities that come with it and remember the reason you surf is to have fun
Thanks and shout outs? Moms Pops Brothers, all other family, Brian wynn, Chris makibbon, all my friends and anyone who has helped me out anytime THANKS!!!
