Sean Wood is a local surfer, skater, skier and videographer. He surfs all over the world, loves Tahiti and says he gets more barrels in a month at teahupoo than he would a lifetime trying to paddle battle at Pipe. A Rehoboth Beach local, Woods has an amazing eye for video and can surf any wave.

What have you been up to?
I've been splitting time between Lake Tahoe, Santa Cruz and try and get back to delaware a few times a year. Working a seasonal job with California state parks, and freelance video work
When did you get into surfing?
Started surfing when I was 8. A few years before they installed the pump station at Indian river. Southside worked at high tide and northside worked at low tide, depending on the tide my mom would drop me off at one side, and pick me up on the other.
You are always on the move searching for waves, what are some of the places you have visited?
Went to Costa Rica when I was 15 and I was hooked on surf and travel. At 19 I went solo to Bali/Java and got really humbled by G-land. They were calling it 8 foot and the were barrels big as houses grinding over shallow reef. I wanted it but the reef just spooked me, so I spent the next 2 summers in Puerto Escondido to pull in over sand. Then I was completely addicted to barrels.
You were in Teahupoo this past April? seemed like the entire surf world was there, pretty big swell hit, how was it?
Teahupoo in April was as perfect as an ocean gets for 3 weeks. Oil Glass or light offshore and plenty of swell. Two big days with a bunch of tow teams, Laurie Towner, Dean Bowen,Raimana, Maya.... but Mark Healey got deeper paddling in. Definitely the standout of the two swells.
Is there a way to check out your latest project?
Yeah, you can go to http://www.vimeo.com/21388264 and check out my movie trailer.
What is one of your most memorable surf sessions in DE?
Most memorable DE surf, cold, hollow, and solo.
What are you going to be doing this summer?
Going to Mexico this summer for some last surf shots. Then back to Delaware in September for my grandmas 90th and maybe a hurricane??
worst wipeout?
Teahupoo June 2008 I dislocated my shoulder, couldn't reset on the beach, had to go 2 hours away in Papatee to reset it.
what is confusion mag and when did you start working for them?
Confusion Magazine is my friends Jonathan Hays who also co-created Concussion skate mag. I have been working with Jonathan for a few years. We made some videos for global boarding.tv and consolidated skateboards. We are in the "final stages" of finishing FUSION ,confusions first movie.
What is some advice you can give to the Delaware surfers, that can help our surf community progress and grow in the right direction?
They are never going to stop pumping sand. It would be nice if the new "ocean outfall" pipe going in would come with a nice big jetty, long enough to fish off of and probably create a surfspot..... or really think big, Joe Biden should throw some money our way to build a Huntington beach sized concrete pier at the end of rehoboth ave.
